About us

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit (Nelson Henderson, 1865-1943)

Our story

Our mission is to help people and businesses offset their carbon footprint by distributing trees to households in developing countries affected by climate change. We are driven by duty of care towards the environment and the future generations to reduce the carbon footprint.

Although we believe that the best way to deal with climate change is to reduce the carbon emissions by changing lifestyles and systems change through using alternative green energy sources such as solar and wind, one way to offset the current existing emissions is to plant trees.

We distribute different types of fruit, timber and medicinal trees on your behalf to the households who will take care and nurture the trees. They get direct benefits of having fruits to eat and are also be able to earn money by selling fruits and timber.

Other than help offset carbon footprint and mitigate the climate change, planting trees also have the following benefits:

  • Improving soil health, water quality, biodiversity and air quality
  • Providing food, forest products and sustainable timber, fibre and fuel
  • Creating jobs and recreational opportunities for households

Why GAACH is different

While other programmes of tree plantations such as agroforestry and forest plantations exist, their survival rates are very low (for example 40% trees planted on public land and 65% of trees on private land in Rwanda survived over 2007-2011). With our approach of distributing trees to households who take of the trees, the survival rate of the trees is over 95%. To compensate for the 5% failures, we plant five extra trees for every 100 trees ordered.

In addition to planting trees, we have taken initiatives to introduce Environmental Clubs in schools in developing countries to raise awareness on climate related challenges among children.
